Our Engaging Men as Allies Workshop is a unique and rewarding 1-day (6-hour) experience for male identified adults.
Join us at the UNE Campus, Innovation Hall Rm 201, on Saturday, January 25th from 9:00am-3:30pm.
We are in an age of unprecedented awareness around the epidemic of male self-harm and violence
against girls and women. The scale of this problem can be overwhelming and discouraging when
thinking about what can be done. It can be especially difficult for men to know how they can
participate in positive ways as changemakers within their families and communities.
Our Engaging Men as Allies workshop provides an opportunity to explore ways that men are
intentionally and unintentionally conditioned to contribute toward this culture we find ourselves in. Participants will come away with a deeper understanding and empathy for marginalized populations, and clarity around the role they can play as male allies working toward positive change. All participants will gain real skills that can be applied in everyday life to make their relationships and communities safer and stronger.
Maine Boys to Men, the Maine Women's Lobby Education Fund, and Prevention Action Change have teamed up to offer a variation of this workshop to give men a positive and proactive role to play in the reduction of gender-based violence.
