January 8th: Vigils in Portland and Augusta to Honor Victims of Gun Violence

On Sunday, January 8, 2012, concerned citizens across the country will take part in the Too Many Victims National Candlelight Vigil to remember victims of gun violence.  January 8th will mark one year since the horrific shooting in Tucson, Arizona, where 19 people were shot.

These vigils in Maine will be held at Noon at the City Halls in Portland and Augusta.

Maine’s vigils are being sponsored by Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, States United to Prevent Gun Violence, Maine Council of Churches,  Physicians for Social Responsibility and Boys to Men.
